7th Yale Valley Arts Festival
July 19th July 25th, 2009
The 7th Yale Valley Arts Festival, “Where Art and Nature Meets”,offers some of the finest regional arts experiences.
The Festival occurs near the southwest side of Mt. St. Helens, near Cougar, Washington, and begins with a very dynamic contemporary classical concert on Sunday July 19th. The magical setting of Anderson Lodge Hilltop House, deep in the natural world, is a perfect place to hear the acclaimed Third Angle New Music Ensemble and enjoy a fresh Northwest buffet. The concert features two pemieres by composer Tomas Svoboda, along with his ASCAP award winning homage to Aaron Copeland. Svoboda’s “Farewell to Prague” will be performed on the piano by the composer himself. The dynamic “Zaka” by Grammy winner Jennifer Higdon will be performed by 3rd Angle musicians on clarinet, flute, violin, cello and marimba. An interesting preview of an up and coming talented composer is included in the program. Chris Rogerson’s “Autumn Landscapes” depicts his homeland through clarinet and piano.
The concert occurs Sunday, July 19th beginning at 4:30 pm with the NW buffet. Following dessert, award winning dancer Karina Rayl of Reach for the Stars Dance will share her exceptional talent. Then the music begins. Only 100 seats for the concert with dinner will be sold. Reservations are necessary. $ 38.
